Summary
A young orphan who knows nothing of his identity tries to make his way in a cruel world. Oliver Twist is cast out of the workhouse after daring to ask for more food. He soon runs away from an apprenticeship and ends up in London in the clutches of Fagin, the miserly master of a den of child thieves. Oliver is rescued by kindly Mr Brownlow, but his happiness is shortlived as Fagin plots to recapture the boy and condemn him to a life of crime
