Summary
"Jamila Waheed does not want to spend her first summer in a new neighbourhood at science camp when she could be shooting hoops at the local basketball court. And Shirley Bones is looking for a summer of freedom too. When the two girls meet, they quickly figure out a solution for each other's predicaments: Their moms agree to let them spend the summer together, hanging out on the basketball court. They're not friends, exactly--more like mutually beneficial acquaintances--and they mind their own business. Until Shirley gets a visit from a local kid who needs her help finding his stolen pet gecko. Because Shirley Bones is the neighbourhood's best crime-solving detective. Shirley is used to operating alone, but Jamila tags along for the investigation, and it turns out that she's a pretty good detective herself. As they unravel the mystery of the missing gecko, Shirley and Jamila find new friendships all over the neighbourhood--and learn how to be a team of two for the first time."--Provided by publisher
