- Summary
- 1810: After being driven to surrender H.M.S. SUTHERLAND following a long and bloody battle, Captain Horatio Hornblower is held captive in the French fortress of Rosas. He and the wounded Lieutenant Bush are to be brought before the Military Commission in Paris for attacking under false colours - a trial which can only end in their executions, thanks to Napoleon's desire to rally a war-weary Europe by holding them up as an example of English perfidy. Even if they can escape this fate and make it home to England, Hornblower will still face a court martial for surrendering his ship..
